Anthony Nicholas Brady, Marcia Myers Brady’s father, marries Marcia Ann Myers, having met her in Pownal Center, Vermont.
1870’s
Brady begins to work with young inventor Thomas A. Edison
1881
Carll Tucker is born in Albany, New York, to Cornelia Strong Tucker and Luther Henry Tucker.
1884
Marcia Myers Brady is born in Pownal Center, Vermont.
1895
Carll attends St. Paul’s School in Concord, New Hampshire, graduating in1900.
1900
Carll follows in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, Luther Tucker, attending Yale and graduating in 1904.
1908
Carll Tucker and Marcia Myers Brady marry in Albany.
1913
Anthony Nicholas Brady dies at 72 in London during a business trip. His will establishes trusts to benefit his children and grandchildren.
1915
The Tuckers purchase a house at 733 Park Avenue in Manhattan. The house was built for Elihu Root, Secretary of State under Theodore Roosevelt, but was never occupied by him.
1909-1921
The Tuckers have five children: Luther, Nicholas Brady, Marcia Ann Myers, Ruth Burnett, and Carll Jr.
1919
Ruth Burnett dies during the flu epidemic.
1921
Marcia Ann Myers Brady dies in Albany, New York
1920s
Marcia Brady Tucker volunteers with the Red Cross during World War I and starts bird walks in Central Park.
1923
Marcia Brady Tucker and Mabel Garvan sue their brothers, Nicholas F. and James Cox Brady, and the Hanover Bank, of which James was president. The suit is for irregularities in the management of the estate of Anthony N. Brady. The suit went to the NY State supreme court. Marcia and Mabel won their suit. However, this marked the end of close family ties, and as a result, the Brady grandchildren stopped seeing each other during the frequent visits they once had to the Brady home in West End, New Jersey. Luther Tucker did not see his cousins again until he saw his cousin Nick as a freshman at Yale. This division between the MBT side of the family and the Brady brothers ultimately drove Luther Tucker to become committed to preserving family ties.
1926
Nicholas Brady Tucker dies at St. Paul’s with a ruptured appendix – Carll and Marcia were abroad and could not be reached in time to give permission for surgery – before waivers!
1941
Carll & Marcia Tucker establish the Marcia Brady Tucker Foundation for charitable giving.
1941-1945
World War II, the Navy requisitions the Tuckers’ 3-masted schooner, Migrant, to destroy German submarines.
1940s
The Tuckers build a house in Hobe Sound, Florida, after the Navy requisitions Migrant.
1955
Marcia Ann Myers Tucker dies in Westchester County, New York.
1968
Carll Jr. dies in the U.S. Virgin Islands
1976
Marcia Brady Tucker dies in her home at 720 Park Avenue. She was 92 years old.
2000
Luther Tucker dies in Essex, Connecticut.
2020
A documentary is made about Piece Meadow, a wildlife refuge in New Jersey, secured through MBT’s contributions.
